Its been a long time...

My last post was almost 3 years ago(!).  Sorry about that. Thanks for sticking around and checking back.. If this is the first time you've been here: Hi, I'm Nate.

I'll go into more detail in the next couple posts, but here's a quick overview of some of the things I've been working on:

Breeding

I'm the one on the right.
I went halvsies on a miniature human.  Unlike most things I've made, this one required zero rework. Nailed it on the first try. Her name is Rosalie Danger and she is awesome.

USB MIDI Shield

Here be a prototype
I've been making and using these MIDI-over-USB shields in proto-shield form for quite some time. I find them really useful and have given a few to friends. No drivers are needed for OSX or Winderz (not sure about the *NIX's, though). Its plug and play and the arduino just shows up like any other USB-MIDI device.  I just got a few boards printed up for a more permanent version of the shield and should have them done in the next week or two. I'll have a complete post about this shortly thereafter (I promise!).

NES Synth Shield

I love the theme from Metroid.
I am 33 years old. Consequently, 80's video game sounds have a dear place in my heart. I built a bare-bones MIDIBox SID a few years ago and wanted to do something similar with an NES CPU and an arduino. So I did. Then I made it into an arduino shield, because it seemed like a reasonable thing to do. When stacked on top of the aforementioned USB-MIDI shield, its a full on NES MIDI Synth. Its tits. I'll post more about this soon, as well.

Bloodshot Pyramid

Stuff I made with the stuff I made
Most things I work on have something to do with making music, so when I'm not making things to make music, I make music. Bloodshot Pyramid is a project I worked on with a couple friends. We  released an album called "Every Level Larger" on a label called Trauma House.  Its kind of like rap, minus the raps.  Check it out.

  1. Any progress on the USB/MIDI sheild. I for one would like to buy one. Maybe you can send this to Sparkfun.

  2. Any chance you could make the shield public? Or the schematic / PCB design?
